The way "Notey" to learn

The way "Notey" to learn

"India celebrates the first anniversary of demonetization," the news headline of a popular news portal said. A year ago already, I remembered the disruption caused by the sudden movement in the life of a simple man, when my four-year-old daughter Kaira had joked.

"Mom, my pig is full of pink tones and must produce a mix of other colors."

She was smart and although she did not understand the value of money, she knew it was important for her to protect her mini-bank from raids on her siblings. While her joke fascinated me, I wondered how I could make her curiosity spark her interest in mathematics, which she feared. And in a fun way, the addicts.

So I designed fun activities that could keep you busy on your vacation while understanding the science of "monology". Here are some things I could think of:

Sorting and Stacking: We opened the lock to his pig and emptied it on the carpet. The next step was to ask them to stack all the colored notes separately. Parts are sorted and stacked by value. The next step was to calculate the value of each stack, write it on sticky notes and attach it to each package. Go to the bottom of crispy notes, it was a pleasure to watch them carefully add notes and coins to make it more fun.

Scale bars length: the new currency was thinner and shorter than the previous ones, not to mention the bright colors. This clicked on another idea to familiarize them with the values. I asked them to take a note from each pile and place it according to their length. I followed this session by asking them to find the highest and lowest value of the stack. Once done, it had to be organized sequentially in ascending and descending order. See it !! The task was done in the blink of an eye !!

Rocker Toggle: Notes of different shapes and colors. I asked them to create different shapes with them, including hexagons and octagons. She could use different notes to reach the desired dimensions. After finishing, I asked her to name the shapes, then summarize the totals for each one.

Mathematics of National Flags: I partnered in geography to take a turn in the game and break the monotony of calculations so that they do not understand my intentions. I gave him a map listing all the national flags of the world, as well as country names. I asked them to collect the notes in order to create the national flag of each country. In the absence of color, she cut the paper in the form of notes she used to make the rest of the flag and painted them in the color of her choice. A selection there and a repair on the other side, my pumpkin was absorbed for hours, the colors matching the map and the flags created. When I finished, I took the map and asked them to name the countries and see the national flags. Another conquered theme !!

Mathematical stress for shopaholics: Kaira is a pretty fashion consumer and loves to follow trends. So I printed to him the latest creations of popular creators, especially his favorites, and noted their price next to the photo. All she had to do was dig in her new handbag and keep the cost of each model in the picture. She drooled on the seam, carefully calculated the price and put the final amount on each photo. Hello! She knew exactly how many people could catch her and how much money she would need to collect for her next shopping spree.

While enjoying my activities, I also watched them dive into small tasks and remind me to juggle the mathematical monster. Share all the interesting things you have done to help your kids understand currency trading !!
